The UFC kicked off the 2017 season in Brazil in style. Last Saturday (11), the Octagon was the scene of busy fights at UFC Fortaleza, an event held at the Northeast Olympic Training Center, with emphasis on Kelvin Gastelum, Mauritius Shogun e Edson Barboza.

In the main fight of the night, Gastelum made use of his 14 years younger age and his best technical skills and gave no chance to Vitor belfort. Although the Phenomenon showed some flashes and was more aggressive than in his recent fights, he was no match for the young American's momentum and ended up being knocked out at 3:52 of the first round.
In the second most prominent fight of the event, Shogun performed confidently to win Gian Villante and score his third consecutive triumph in the organization, an unprecedented event in his career in Ultimate. Barboza, on the other hand, had to resort to his wide range of strikes to turn the fight against Beneil Dariush and knocking out the Iranian at the end of the second stage.
