First Brazilian to enter the Octagon at UFC Fortaleza, Paulo borrachinha he needed just 77 seconds to knock out Garreth McLellan. The triumph marked the Minas Gerais native's debut in the organization in style, but what marked the Minas Gerais native's debut in Ultimate was his statement while still in the octagon. Excited about the triumph, Borrachinha called for 'Bolsonaro 2018' and sent social media crazy.
As soon as Borrachinha shouted out the name of the pre-candidate for president of Brazil in 2018, several messages of support and criticism of the fighter and politician appeared on social media (see below).
Although the UFC advises its fighters not to express political opinions inside the octagon, this is not the first time that the fight area has been transformed into a platform in Brazil. In 2015, at UFC Fight Night São Paulo, athletes campaigned in the movement that became known as 'Fora Dilma'
