Heavyweight Ben Rothwell was caught taking an anti-doping test administered by USADA and ended up being removed from the fight again with Fabricio Werdum, which this time was scheduled for UFC 211, in May. The North American used social media to explain that he did not cheat and is undergoing medical treatment, which made him fail the exam, but did not specify the medicine or what type of problem he suffered.

“With the recent news received from USADA, I would like to make everyone aware, I am undergoing treatment to try to overcome a medical issue. I would like the chance to show that I did not cheat, nor did I intend to cheat. Please hold your opinions on me until the facts are clear. I would like to count on everyone's support as I go through this process with USADA. Thank you very much,” said Rothwell.

Although his failure in the exam was publicized, the American will have the opportunity to defend himself and prove his innocence. There will be a process in which Rothwell can submit evidence that he did not use any type of substance that could give him an undue advantage in a fight. Even so, the duel against Werdum was cancelled.

It is the second time that the heavyweight has left a fight against the Brazilian. At UFC 203, the two had agreed to face each other, but Rothwell was injured and gave way to Travis Browne.
