Demian Maia I've already said a few times that I won't accept any more fights other than for the welterweight title. Even with challenges of Jorge masvidal e Donald Cerrone, the Brazilian guarantees that his next fight will be against the winner of Tyron woodley e Stephen Thompson, who will rematch at UFC 209. This means that Maia could be away from the Octagon for almost a year. Even though he thinks the wait is necessary, Demian regrets the confusion that has taken place in his division.

"It is hard to understand. The game is changing and the UFC…things are confusing right now, at least from my perspective. I've been working for the UFC for 10 years and I've never seen this before. I'm the number one challenger and no one questions that. I will wait, no matter the weather. It's difficult, because I'm an athlete and I always want to fight, but I built a path to get here. I have to be patient. I don't know what else to say anymore. People come up to me on the street and I don’t know what to say to them”, said the welterweight in an interview with the program “The MMA Hour”.
