“I am retiring from the sport. I'm only doing this now, because I'm only now able to coldly analyze the situation. From the beginning, I never hid anything from anyone and never did anything to cheat. I didn't say I was taking a contaminated supplement, I didn't make up any excuses for anything and I did what I had to do to be able to recover from a health problem diagnosed at the end of 2015. After receiving the suspension, I was tested again by USADA, later in the year. past, and the result only came out now. Obviously the substances are still in my body, because there are residues. And I can't continue my treatment because of this. So, as I have no intention of fighting MMA again, I am here making my retirement official”, commented “Demente” in an interview on the Combate channel website.
The Brazilian leaves MMA with just six fights – five wins and one loss. Coming from jiu-jitsu, where he won several championships in different belts, “Demente” arrived in the UFC through TUF Brasil 3. During the reality show, he represented the team of Wanderlei Silva and reached the semi-finals, winning Guilherme Bomba and losing to Márcio Lyoto. In Ultimate, the Brazilian had a victory, against Wagnão Silva, and a defeat, against Jake collier, in his last fight.
