The rivalry between Michael Bisping e Tyron woodley has gained more strength in recent days. Last Thursday (05), during the podcast “The Countdown”, the champions of the middleweight and welterweight categories provoked each other for almost eight minutes, raising even more expectations for a possible superfight between them.

“People kiss your ass when you’re a world champion. But I've been around long enough to know it's all nonsense, so don't believe everything your little team says. Everything they say to you isn’t true, because I’m going to do like Nate Marquardt and beat you up, partner,” Bisping teased, referring to Woodley’s defeat to Marquardt in 2012, in the now-defunct Strikeforce.
Woodley, in turn, responded by claiming to be 'smarter' than his rival, and cited the fewer number of fights he needed to have in the company to become champion.
“Do the math, Bisping. How many fights did you have in the UFC and how many victories. I was UFC champion with six or seven wins. I'm simply smarter. I fought tougher guys and beat them. You face tougher guys and lose to them. Eventually, as long as you stay in the sport, you will fight for the belt and get lucky. We all know that. It’s a numbers game,” Woodley countered.
Michael Bisping e Tyron woodley had similar trajectories in 2016. The Englishman won the middleweight belt by knocking out Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, in June, and made his first title defense by overcoming the veteran Dan Henderson by points at UFC 204, in October. T-Wood became welterweight champion by defeating Robbie Lawler by knockout at UFC 201 in July. He retained the belt by drawing with Stephen Thompson at UFC 205, in New York, in November.
