The expected fight between Chael Sonnen e Wanderlei Silva it should finally happen in 2017. However, the duel will be for Bellator, and not in the UFC, where the two became rivals after training for TUF Brasil 3. The guarantee is the president of the second biggest North American event, Scott Coker.
"It seems that Wanderlei Silva it will be ready sometime in the middle of the year (in the North American summer). He is currently under contract with Bellator, so we will have him for many years to come. I think it's a matter of time. I hope we can make this fight”, commented Coker, to the North American website MMA Junkie.
Before thinking about Wanderlei, however, Sonnen needs to go through Tito Ortiz. The two will be in the main fight of Bellator 170, which takes place on January 21, in Los Angeles. Wand continues to recover from shoulder and knee injuries after being run over in May last year. The Brazilian would return to MMA in a fight against Mirko Cro Cop for Rizin, a Bellator partner, but was forced to leave the fight due to health problems.
