The Brazilian Douglas lima is the new welterweight champion of Bellator, the second largest MMA organization today. Douglas won the category belt by knocking out the Russian Andrei Koreshkov at 1:21 of the third round, in the main fight of Bellator 164, held this Thursday (10), in Tel Aviv, capital of Israel.
This was the second time that Lima and Koreshkov faced each other. Interestingly, in the first fight, the scenario was the opposite. At the time, in edition number 140, in July 2015, the Brazilian was the one who held the division's belt, but was defeated by the Russian in a unanimous decision by the judges and lost the title.
In the second most important fight of the night, Israeli ex-UFC Noad Lahat made his debut on the right foot by submitting Scott Cleve with a rear naked choke in the first round.
Besides Douglas lima, two other Brazilians are Bellator champions: Dudu Dantas, in bantamweight, and Raphael Carvalho, at medium weight.
