Jones' punishment was announced last Monday (7), and refers to a surprise anti-doping test carried out in July this year, shortly before his fight at UFC 200, against Daniel Cormier. Two days later, on Wednesday (9), Dana White himself announced that Ultimate had removed the interim light heavyweight belt from Jon Jones.

This was the second time that Jones has had his division belt taken away after situations outside the octagon. The first occurred in April 2015, when he was involved in a car accident and fled without helping the victim, a pregnant woman.
