Brazilian says that a rematch against the current champion “would make sense” and took the opportunity to needle his compatriot Fabrício Werdum

Without fighting since April this year, when he defeated Ben Rothwell by unanimous decision at UFC Croatia, Junior Gypsy He already has plans to return to the Octagon. Without a defined opponent and with the confrontation between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velásquez scheduled for UFC 207, December 30th, Cigano claims that a rematch against the heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, whom he already defeated in December 2014, would be the ideal fight to mark his comeback.

“The (fight) that makes the most sense now would be a rematch between me and Miocic. I was the last one to beat him, nothing fairer than a rematch. Since I beat, in my last fight, a guy who was very well qualified (Ben Rothwell), who everyone said could fight for the belt if he beat me. I fit perfectly into a title fight now, it makes total sense. Velásquez could even have a chance, be considered to fight for the belt and get ahead of me, but, given the scenario, and even because he has already scheduled this new fight with Werdum, it won't happen now. My fight with Miocic was very tough, I think everyone would like to see it again. If (this fight) appears, I'm ready, training”, said Cigano, in an interview with the website 'Combate.com'.

Asked about Miocic's current phase, Junior was respectful towards his opponent and praised the qualities of the North American, who is coming off four consecutive knockouts over Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski, Fabricio Werdum e alistair overeem. However, as usual, Cigano took the opportunity to take a dig at his rival Fabricio Werdum, saying that Miocic would “easily win” a possible rematch against his compatriot.

“I thought (Miocic’s performances) were great. He's been doing very well, he's an excellent champion. A guy who always pays a lot of attention, not only to the media, but to his fans as well. I have really liked what I have seen. He is very different from some determined individuals who get there and say a lot of things and turn everything into a complicated scenario. I think he will remain the champion for some time. I think if he faces Cain, he'll win. If you fight Werdum, it will be easy again. Overeem did some work, but he would be knocked out again. The guy who can make his life difficult is me”, guaranteed the Brazilian.
