Close to returning to the octagon, Junior Gypsy, who was recently cleared to return to training after undergoing minor surgery on his right shoulder, is beginning to outline his plans for his future in the UFC. In a press conference given to journalists, the Brazilian spoke about the current situation at the top of the heavyweight category and guaranteed that the moment pleases him.

“What motivates me is the title. I want that belt again. I know I'm capable of getting that belt again. I think the moment is good for me, I don't know, but I feel good about everything I'm seeing, I'm having a lot of fun watching these guys fight,” said Cigano.

Without knowing who his next opponent will be, the former champion cited two old acquaintances as possible opponents: Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez. “I think Werdum would be a good fight for me. I don’t know what the UFC is thinking right now, but if they want to give me Velasquez again I would love to fight him,” said the fighter.

Cigano last acted in April, when he defeated Ben Rothwell by unanimous decision from the judges, and he still has no fight scheduled. With 12 wins and just three losses in the UFC, the Brazilian became heavyweight champion in 2011, when he knocked out Cain Velásquez in just 64 seconds. A year later, at the end of 2012, Velasquez himself took the belt from Brazil by dominating Junior for 25 minutes. Since then, dos Santos has been unable to return to the high level he previously achieved, and alternates between good and bad results.
