The famous “The Ultimate Fighter”, a reality show carried out by the UFC to reveal fighters, may have its days numbered. This is because the new UFC management, led by WME-IMG, plans to stop running the program after the current season. Among the reasons for the cancellation of the program is the decreasing audience, largely due to the saturation of the reality format. The information was given by Jeremy Botter, editor of the North American website “FloCombat”, on his Twitter account.

“TUF”, as it is also known, debuted in 2005 and has already had 34 editions, including four in Brazil. The first season, in fact, was one of the main reasons that helped Ultimate take off in the United States, thanks to the epic battle led by Forrest griffin e Stephan bonnar in the final, won by Griffin in the judges' decision.

In Brazil, the first “The Ultimate Fighter” was in 2012, a program that featured Vitor belfort e Wanderlei Silva as coaches and had Ron Jason e Cezar Mutant as winners. Next year, Rodrigo Minotauro e Fabricio Werdum led the teams, which ended with Leonardo Santos taking home the trophy.

In 2014, in the third edition, one of the biggest rivalries in modern MMA began: Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen were the technicians, while Warlley alves e Antonio Shoe Guy they were the champions. In the fourth and final season, Mauritius Shogun e Anderson Silva (later replaced by the Nogueiras brothers) were the TUF captains who established Glaico France e Reginaldo Vieira as winners.
