Bellator has officially announced a “duel of loudmouths” for its 170th event, which takes place on January 21st, in Los Angeles, in the United States. In the main attraction of the night, Chael Sonnen will make his debut for the organization against the former UFC champion Tito Ortiz.
The fight had been speculated for some time, especially after Sonnen publicly challenged Ortiz. The “American Gangster”, as he likes to call himself, will have his first fight in Bellator after serving a long suspension for doping, when he was still fighting for the UFC. His last fight was in November 2013, when he lost to Rashad evans at UFC 167.
Ortiz has been a Bellator athlete since 2014, and had three fights there: he beat Alexander Shlemenko and Stephan bonnar, but ended up submitted by Liam McGeary in his most recent appearance, in September last year.
This is the only fight announced so far for Bellator 170. The event will be the first organized by the company in Los Angeles.
