Chael Sonnen's suspension comes to an end

Chael Sonnen is free from suspension

Starting this Thursday (30), the North American Chael Sonnen will be free to return to competitions. Away from fighting since August 2010, when he was caught in anti-doping at UFC 117 due to excessive testosterone, the American faced a tough battle in the trials. The California State Athletic Commission even suspended the athlete for indefinite time in a second trial, but later acknowledged that he interpreted the laws wrongly and the hook was reduced to July 30th.

Now, free from any suspension, Sonnen is free to request a new license from the Commissions to return to fighting.

“We will sit down and assess the situation. ” Mike Roberts, Chael’s manager, told the North American website MMA Junkie. The fighter used Twitter to show his satisfaction.

“Finally, I can get back to the most important thing in my life,” the athlete wrote on the microblog.

- September 2010: The California State Athletic Commission released the results of the drug test carried out by Chael Sonnen at UFC 117. The fighter was caught with a high level of testosterone in his urine. As a result, the athlete was preventively suspended for 12 months and received a fine of US$2,5 (around R$4,5).
