“Wonderboy” is scheduled to face the champion, Tyron woodley, at UFC 205, an event that will take place on November 12th, in New York (USA). Even though the duel is just over a month away, Demian would join the fight if he received an emergency call from Ultimate.

“A title fight is a unique opportunity that you should never deny. If ‘Wonderboy’ suffers an injury and we receive the invitation, unless Demian is also injured, we will accept the opportunity, because you never know what tomorrow may bring. We saw what happened to Jacaré, for example, who unfortunately got injured and didn't get his chance. Bisping accepted and became champion, and Jacaré is still looking for his chance. You never know what could happen. To an opportunity like this you say ‘yes’ and do your best”, commented Alonso, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

According to the businessman, Demian's main plan is to face the winner of this duel, preferably in the first half of 2017. “The idea, now, is to face the winner of this fight. Demian already deserved a title shot, and after this fight, it's pretty obvious who's next in line. I don't see anyone who deserves it more than him. We know that merit is something relative in this sport, but we have to find the balance between spectacle and sport”, he said. “After ‘Wonderboy’x Tyron woodley, Demian is next in line regardless of what happens in the future. I believe he will have his opportunity. He deserves it,” he added.

Demian, 38, is on a six-fight winning streak in the UFC, including triumphs over Carlos Condit, Matt Brown, Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny. He is looking for his second chance to compete for a UFC title: in 2010, the Brazilian faced Anderson Silva for the middleweight belt, but was defeated by the judges' decision.
