Ronda Rousey, former UFC champion, and Dana White, president of the MMA organization, appeared on the list of the most influential sports personalities created by the traditional North American publication “Sporting News”.
The list was assembled based on the votes of 21 experts chosen by the publication, which has been present in the United States sports market since 1886. Furthermore, the election only refers to events that occurred in 2016.
Even though she hasn't fought yet this year, Ronda ranked 50th on the list, mainly due to her role in female empowerment in martial arts. White came in 12th place for not only being a powerful leader, but also for having “rock star” status.
The UFC's new executive director, Ari Emanuel, is also mentioned, ranked 26th. His appointment is the result of work done a few years ago, when he helped the UFC sign a television agreement with the giant “FOX”.
First place is Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL (American football league), ahead of Adam Silver, who performs the same role in the NBA (USA basketball league). You can check the complete list here.
