The American stated that the two will do the duel precisely because they are afraid of facing him, and not even Dana White, president of the UFC, escaped criticism. “F*** them both. You know these two b****** are scared to fight me. That's why they're facing each other. And tell Dana I told him to get out of Conor's bullshit. I left my room for that fight at 79kg, so in the fight I was probably at 78. Stop telling people I looked like a monster to make Conor look better. I’ve been a lightweight for my entire career”, he said, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
Diaz also recalled his history of provocations with Alvarez. “Eddie said I was next when he fought Gilbert [Melendez, his training partner]. Afterwards, I called him a b***h and he repeatedly denied the fight until I beat Conor. Then he keeps asking for the fight all the time. What kind of fighters are these guys?” he questioned.
Diaz faced McGregor twice in 2016, with a submission victory in March and a judge's decision defeat in August. His next fight inside the Octagon has not yet been confirmed by Ultimate.
