The rivalry between Aldo and McGregor had its first chapter written at UFC 194, on December 12, 2015, when the Irishman knocked out the Brazilian in just 13 seconds and became UFC featherweight champion. Since then, Conor has had two fights, but none in the weight range in which he holds the belt (up to 66kg): he faced Nate diaz on two occasions, both at welterweight (up to 77kg).
In the first, at UFC 196, in March, he was submitted in the second round, but won the rematch by majority decision of the judges at UFC 202, in August.
