Roy Nelson knocked out Antonio Pezão in the fourth fight on the main card of UFC Brasilia, held this Saturday (24), and won again, but it was his post-fight attitude that caught the public's attention. Angry because he thought referee John McCarthy took too long to stop the fight, the American kicked Big John from behind, who ignored the act.

When asked at the post-event press conference about his attitude, Nelson denied that he had kicked the referee and stated that he had just said “get over it”, to, according to him, make McCarthy more “connected” to the fight. However, he highlighted that he was excited at the moment and stressed that Big John's delay in interrupting

“I didn't kick (John McCarthy), it was just a push. I talked to him inside and said: 'man, he was knocked out', and he told me no. But I know he was knocked out, I understand that, I do that. I didn't want to hurt Pezão any more than I needed to, and that weighed on my mind at the time. I'm sorry, Big John, but I wouldn't go back, it (having to hit the Brazilian) really upset me”, declared Nelson.

The UFC has not yet commented on the case, but it is possible that the kick to the referee will result in some type of punishment. Roy Nelson.
