Canadian former UFC champion welcomes his friend's move to the second MMA organization on the planet

The UFC welterweight division suffered a major loss with the departure of Rory McDonald to Bellator. Despite having left the biggest MMA organization on the planet to sign with a smaller event, the Canadian made a wise decision. At least that's what you believe Georges St Pierre, former UFC welterweight champion.

According to MacDonald's longtime friend GSP, the move will be beneficial for his financial future. “I’m really happy for Rory. I think it was a great change for him. He chose the best option for himself and his family. I wish him all the best. Let's continue training together. He found a new house to earn more money, and if the working conditions are better, I'm happy”, said the Canadian, in an interview with the website “Uproxx”.

MacDonald, 27 years old, was considered the “heir” of St. Pierre on the Canadian scene. He competed for the under-77 kg category belt in 2015, but ended up losing to Robbie Lawler. His Bellator debut does not yet have a confirmed date.
