Woodley won the belt last Saturday (30), with a quick knockout over Robbie Lawler. In the press conference after the fight, the new belt holder stated that his ideal first title defense would be against GSP or Nick Diaz, considered by him to be two of the biggest names in the division and capable of providing a “money fight”.
The North American website “MMA Fighting” contacted the Canadian and asked him if he wanted to carry out the fight proposed by Woodley. “Yes,” replied St. Pierre, shortly.
GSP hasn't fought since November 2013, when he overcame John hendricks in a close decision by the judges to defend his title. Then, the Canadian, now 35 years old, abandoned MMA and left the belt aside.
Woodley, a year younger, returned to the Octagon at UFC 201, having not fought since January 2015. Despite the downtime, the American dispatched Lawler with a knockout in the first round.
