Dana White “retires” Mirko Cro Cop

The career of one of the biggest names in world MMA may have come to an end. After being knocked out by Brendan Schaub, at UFC 128, held last Saturday (19), the Croatian Mirko cro cop he may have said goodbye to the fighting in a melancholic way. After the heavyweight setback, UFC president Dana White stated that the winner of the Pride GP in 2006 will no longer compete in Ultimate.

“I have all respect for (Mirko) Cro Cop, but yes, I would say this was the last time we saw him fight again,” said Dana

“At his age and with the wars he has faced, to see how he faces these heavyweights, who are now bigger, stronger and younger than him… This is proof of what a great fighter he was in his prime,” concluded the top hat.

In his 10-year career, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, aged 37, won 27 victories, 20 of which were by knockout, nine defeats and two draws. His main achievement in MMA was Pride GP, in 2006, when he won the title defeating Wanderlei Silva and Josh Barnett on the same night. Despite his success in Pride, the Croatian fighter was unable to achieve his career in the UFC: in nine fights, Mirko only managed four wins and was defeated on five occasions
