In an interview with “Sirius XM” radio, Condit highlighted that the characteristics of the Brazilian, a jiu-jitsu specialist, represent one of the most complicated fight combinations for his style. “He’s a tough fight. If there was another path to become a challenger for the belt, I admit I would probably take it. His style is difficult for me, but I never backed down due to a challenge. It's exciting for me to have to solve this puzzle that is Demian Maia with the tools I have”, analyzed the fighter.

Former interim welterweight champion, Condit believes that a convincing victory over the Brazilian will make him take an important step forward in the title race. “I think a spectacular victory over Demian Maia will give me a chance to fight for the belt. I don't see why it wouldn't be like that. No doubt Demian Maia could be the number one challenger. He's not the number one contender because of his fighting style, which isn't the most exciting, but he's beaten big names in the division. So, beating him without a doubt will give me the chance to have the belt on me,” he added.

The fight between Condit and Demian will take place on August 27th, in Vancouver, Canada. The American is coming off a narrow defeat in the title fight, against Robbie Lawler, in January; The Brazilian has won five consecutive victories, the last of which was over Matt Brown in Curitiba.
