Just days after becoming UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez is already thinking about the ideal opponent for his first title defense. The new belt holder would like to next face the winner of the rematch between Nate diaz e Conor McGregor, a duel that headlines UFC 202, on August 20th.

The reasoning behind Alvarez's option is simple. The American wants to have a fight with great media coverage next, as both Diaz and McGregor are very popular athletes. “First I want the winner of Conor vs. Nate. I would like a big pay-per-view, a fight with a lot of money. I want to wait for one of the two. I almost fought with Nate in Mexico City, so maybe we can resolve our differences, and if Conor wins, I would welcome the fight too”, he commented, in an interview with “Sirius XM” radio.

Furthermore, Alvarez highlighted the inactivity of the first place in the lightweight ranking, Khabib Nurmagomedov. “The number one contender at my weight has fought once in the last three years. I'm a little nervous about facing a guy who barely shows up to fight. So Conor and Nate are the guys on my radar. I would like to get my hands on one of them,” he added.

Alvarez won the UFC lightweight belt on July 7, in Las Vegas (USA), by knocking out the Brazilian in the first round Rafael dos Anjos.
