Brazil is, momentarily, without any belt in the UFC. In the early hours of this Friday (8), Eddie Alvarez needed just one round to dispatch Rafael dos Anjos and win the lightweight title in the city of Las Vegas, in the United States.

The challenger even tried to use his ground game to surprise Dos Anjos, but the Brazilian managed to keep the fight standing. However, Alvarez connected, in the opening minutes, with a well-aimed cross to Rafael's chin, which he visibly felt.
From then on, Alvarez went all out on Dos Anjos to try to finish the fight. At one point, the American tried a flying knee, but fell underneath. However, Dos Anjos was still groggy, which allowed Alvarez to get up and get the technical knockout shortly after, with the referee interrupting the actions with the Brazilian still standing.
Thus, Rafael's long winning streak, which had lasted since April 2014, comes to an end. Alvarez, in his fourth fight in the UFC, wins the long-awaited title.
The Brazilians will at least have the chance to win belts in the coming days. On Friday (8), Claudia Gadelha challenges Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the women's straw title; on Saturday, Amanda nunes challenges Miesha Tate for the women's bantamweight belt, and José Aldo magpie Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight title.
