the defeat of Fedor Emelianenko for Brazilian Antonio Pezão, last Saturday night, left MMA fans on alert. This is because the Russian considered the possibility of ending his career after suffering two consecutive defeats in Strikeforce. Before being knocked out by Pezão, Fedor was submitted by the gaucho Fabricio Werdum last June.
However, the executive director of the Californian organization, Scott Coker, thinks differently than the heavyweight. The director believes that it is not yet time for Fedor to abandon MMA and that he could soon bring news regarding the Russian's future in the event. And for Fedor's possible new appearance in Strikeforce, Coker already has two likely opponents in mind for the fighter.
“The loser of the clash between (Alistair) Overeem and (Fabrício) Werdum could be Fedor's new opponent. It would be a big challenge for him,” he said.
Despite his statements, Coker made a point of highlighting that everything is nothing more than an incentive for Fedor to rethink the future of his career. According to the top hat, if the Russian really wants to retire, he certainly won't be the one to make the athlete change his mind. However, the North American believes that this is not the case.
“Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I have no doubt that Fedor will return,” assured Coker.
