The fight will take place in the light heavyweight category. Despite Cormier being the weight champion, the duel will not put any title on the line and will last three rounds. Miesha Tate e Amanda nunes, for the women's bantamweight belt, is the new main fight of UFC 200, with Mark Hunt x Brock Lesnar, of the heavyweight division, as the second most important.
Anderson, former middleweight champion, will step in at the last minute in place of Jon Jones, who would fight against Cormier for the unification of the interim and linear light heavyweight belts. Jones was cut from the duel after failing a surprise drug test in June.
Faced with a difficult mission, Anderson will try to achieve his first victory in the octagon since October 2012. Since then, the Brazilian has lost twice to Chris Weidman, had a no-contest against Nick Diaz and was defeated again Michael Bisping. Cormier is coming off victories over Anthony Johnson e Alexander Gustafson, with his only setback in professional MMA being against Jones, in January 2015.
