Brian Stann confirms fight against Wand
After much speculation and an expected fight against Chael Sonnen (remember here), it seems that Wanderlei Silva He already has another opponent set to return to the UFC Octagon. The Brazilian, who is recovering from knee and rib injuries, will face former WEC champion, Brian stann. The American fighter himself confirmed the news in statements to the Telegraph newspaper, also denying a possible confrontation against the Englishman Michael Bisping.
“Fortunately, my next fight will be Wanderlei Silva, who is obviously a legend in the sport and it would be an honor to face him”, he said. “Bisping has shown himself to be a great fighter, he may have the belt one day, but Wanderlei has what I need, which is to beat a respected guy in the rankings,” he said.
When asked, if Wand wins, who could be his next opponent, the North American didn't think twice and stated that he would like to fight for the middleweight title and considers himself qualified to defeat Anderson Silva, current owner of the belt.
“Yes, I think I have the skills to compete with the Anderson Silva . He's a few levels above the rest of the division, but I'm a fight or two away from that. I train with GSP (Georges St Pierre, welterweight champion), who is a great guy in this sport”, he said.
Despite Brian Stann's announcement, there is still no confirmation from the UFC about the fight or even a possible date for the fight to take place.
