Considered one of Ireland's greatest idols today, the UFC champion Conor McGregor recorded a message of encouragement for his country's team before their debut at Euro 2016, this Monday (13), in France.

The number one featherweight in Ultimate wished his compatriots good luck shortly before the team's first match in the competition, against Sweden. McGregor recalled the great experience of the team's players, in addition to using his now famous motivational phrases.
“What’s up, Ireland? I would like to leave a message for our team, which will compete in the European championship. You are the most experienced team there – taking all the players together, we have age and experience on our side. You are veterans of this competition, and there is not a move, approach or obstacle that you have not seen before. These puppies that you will face were still in diapers when you were already fighting hard for every ball, for every second, in every game. It's time to show these boys that it's men's time. It's time to get these young boys back to school – Ireland's school. This is your moment, it is our moment. Always remember: we are not here to take part, but to take charge. Good luck, guys. The country is with you”, said the fighter.
In the match, Ireland took the lead with a goal from Wes Hoolahan, but ended up conceding a draw after Ciaran Clark, the team's defender, scored an own goal. The team will return to the field next Saturday (18), when they face Belgium in Bordeaux.
