Current UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor He is the only MMA representative on Forbes magazine's list of the 100 highest-paid athletes in the world, released this week.
The Irishman is 85th on the list, which covers the earnings of each athlete during 2015. McGregor would have received an amount of US$22 million (R$73,9 million at current prices), with US$18 million being salary, plus US$4 million in additional income, such as promotional appearances and sponsorships.
The leader is Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid star ($88 million), who was just ahead of Barcelona's Lionel Messi ($81,4 million). The best representative of the fights was boxer Floyd Mayweather, 16th placed, with Manny Pacquiao in 63rd and Canelo Alvarez placeholder image the 92nd.
2015 was a largely successful year for McGregor in the UFC. The Irishman has won all three of his fights: in January, he beat Dennis Siver; in July, defeated Chad Mendes to win the interim belt, and in December, he knocked out José Aldo to become the ultimate champion.
