Officially, Brock Lesnar is still one of those responsible for the UFC's record pay-per-view sales in the United States, with 1,6 million sales at the historic UFC 100, in 2009. His “heir” in terms of big sales is Conor McGregor, who was close to reaching the record in March this year, with 1,5 million at UFC 196. Given these numbers, the North American giant admitted that the Irishman is a largely beneficial figure for the sport.
For Lesnar, McGregor contributes positively to the UFC not only by knowing how to promote himself, but also by showing himself efficient during fights. "I know Conor McGregor. This sport has evolved since the first time I entered the octagon. I think people are realizing that you need to talk, but more importantly, do it. Guys who can talk and do things are great for the company”, he analyzed, in an interview with the “SportsCenter” program, on the North American broadcaster “ESPN”.
McGregor frequently brags about his sales numbers, a stance that Lesnar does not share. “If someone wants to say they are the biggest seller of pay-per-views in the world, I don't care. I never came and said I have the sales record. All I know is that I get paid, and I'm happy about it. I have my price. I don’t hang my titles on the wall because they don’t pay my bills,” he commented.
The two fighters will be active during the UFC's upcoming pay-per-view events. At UFC 200, in July, Lesnar returns to the octagon against Mark Hunt; the following month, McGregor catches Nate diaz in the main attraction of UFC 202.
