Jose aldo He's the best fighter of 2010! The Brazilian won the statuette at the World MMA Awards early this Thursday morning (Brasília time) and ended a year in which he found no opponents in the featherweight division. The Brazilian athlete competed for the most coveted prize at the world “MMA Oscar” with his compatriots Anderson Silva, Mauricio Shogun and the americans Brock Lesnar e Frankie Edgar. After the announcement, Aldo was emotional and grateful for the award.

“This award is not just mine. It’s from the entire WEC, my family, my coach Andre Pederneiras and several people who helped me to be here,” he said.

Brazil still left the party with five more statuettes. The historic triangle of Fabricio Werdum em Fedor Emelianenko won the award for best finish of 2010, Wanderlei Silva earned money with the best gym, Mauricio Shogun won with the best knockout, Chris Cyborg won the award as best fighter and the epic clash of Anderson Silva e Chael Sonnen it won the title of best fight of the year.
