Wanderlei Silva is run over and undergoes surgery

According to his advisor, the fighter was on a bicycle while returning from training, was hit by a car and injured his shoulder.

the return of Wanderlei Silva to MMA should take longer than the Brazilian fighter expected. According to his press office, Wand was involved in a traffic accident and is expected to undergo shoulder surgery to correct an injury.

According to the statement, Wanderlei was returning home from training on a bicycle when he was hit by a car. On impact, the Curitiba native reportedly injured his shoulder, which required surgical intervention. No further details of the incident were revealed.

At 39 years old, Wanderlei is considered one of the main Brazilian representatives in the history of MMA, with a PRIDE title and victories over names like Quinton jackson, Ricardo arona, Kazushi Sakuraba and Dan Henderson. His last fight was at the beginning of 2013, in the UFC, with a knockout victory over Brian Stann.

Since then, Wanderlei was suspended after refusing to take a surprise doping test and ended up leaving the UFC. Now, the fighter has signed a contract with Bellator and Rizin, but has not yet announced when his definitive return to MMA will be.
