Another Brazilian became champion of a major world MMA event. This Friday morning (06), already evening in Singapore, the multi-time jiu-jitsu champion Roger gracie he submitted Polish Michal Pasternak in the first round to win the light heavyweight category belt at the Asian One FC event.

Roger's title is the first for a Gracie to become champion in a major international event since the institution of the unified MMA rules and to do so in an event without a tournament format, like Royce, Renzo and Rickson previously. At 34 years old, Roger was one of the biggest winners in the history of jiu-jitsu and had stints in events such as Strikeforce and UFC – where he only had one fight, losing to Tim Kennedy.
Despite Pasternak's promises to finish Roger, the Brazilian had no trouble beating him. Right at the beginning of the fight, after taking just one blow to close the distance, Roger took the Pole to the cage and managed to take him down. On the ground, Gracie went directly to mount and submitted Michal with a katagatame. The Pole refused to tap and ended up collapsing in the ring.
With victory, Roger gracie now he has a professional record of eight wins and two losses in MMA.
