About to face Lyoto Machida in the co-main fight of UFC Fight Night Tampa, on April 16th, the veteran Dan Henderson I would rather be having another rematch against another Brazilian, the former middleweight champion Anderson Silva. In an interview, Henderson said that he considers a second meeting with Spider to be a more exciting fight than his duel against Machida will be.

I didn't ask for it (against Lyoto) and, honestly, I wasn't looking for a rematch with him, because I don't think it's a fight the fans would like. He's a guy who you never know if he's going to be really annoying or a little annoying. Either way, it wouldn't be an exciting fight in my mind; I think it's up to me to make it exciting for the fans”, said Hendo, to the “Sherdog” website. “They called me and asked about Lyoto, and I said, 'Well, I didn't think about him, but, okay.' I wish I had faced someone like Anderson Silva, I know the fans have wanted to see a rematch against him for a long time, and it would be a much more exciting fight, probably a very different fight, a little more challenging in some ways. That's probably a fight I would ask for. With Machida, I think it will be up to me to make the fight exciting, and I plan on doing that, forcing him to face me,” he added.
Facing Lyoto, Henderson, 45, will have the last fight of his current contract with the UFC and, unlike other opportunities, he left the door open for eventual retirement. "We will see. This is the last of my contract, and who knows, it could be my last fight in history. I would like to finish my career in the UFC. It will depend on the UFC, how many fights I continue to have. I would like to represent them outside the cage, in sport, and still be able to have an income being part of what I love and helping the sport grow. If I can do that, maybe this will be my last fight. Otherwise, I might struggle a little more. Who knows?” he assured.
