Dada 5000 finally broke his silence and spoke out publicly for the first time since his controversial fight against Kimbo Slice at Bellator 149, on February 19th. The fighter, harshly criticized for his performance, stated that he died in the middle of cage after suffering two cardiac arrests and kidney failure.

Dada and Kimbo had a fight that, in the eyes of the public, was embarrassing in Bellator. Both showed little technique and physical unpreparedness, so that, for much of the time, the fighters did little. However, the comical criticism changed tone when Dada was rushed to hospital after collapsing immediately at the end of the duel, won by Kimbo by technical knockout.

It was diagnosed that Dada suffered severe dehydration and fatigue after losing almost 20 kg in a few weeks to be able to reach the weight limit for the fight. In a message on Instagram, the American, whose real name is Dhafir Harris, clarified the events from his point of view. “Yes, I trained very hard for the fight and I was in good shape to fight. But those who know me know there was something wrong in the look in my eyes when I walked into that ring,” he noted.

“Yes, I had kidney failure during the fight and I also had two heart attacks, which I interpret as my death during the fight. Thank God I managed to return and was hospitalized, where I remained for three weeks after the fight. Thank you all for the support. I will recover and come back bigger, faster and stronger than ever”, he added.
