UFC 196 was definitely the event for the underdogs. After Miesha Tate finalize Holly holm and win the women's bantamweight category belt, Nate diaz surprised, survived a great punishment and finished Conor McGregor on Saturday night (5) in Las Vegas, in the United States.

As expected, the two put on a great show in the octagon. McGregor managed to land good blows, especially straight lefts and thigh kicks, which undermined Diaz's situation. In the second round, the American already had a large cut and swelling over his right eye.

McGregor continued to mix attacks and provocations in the fight, always with his guard down. Diaz landed a good right on the Irishman's chin, which shook him, and continued going forward to try to end the fight. McGregor attempted the takedown and ended up landing on the bottom – it was the cue the American needed to land blows on his rival.

In an attempt to survive, McGregor ended up turning his back and was easy prey for Diaz's rear naked choke. The “three taps” came at 4:12 of the second round.

In his cool style, Diaz celebrated in his own style: “I'm not surprised, you sons of bitches,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience. “My jiu-jitsu always makes a difference when I get to the ground,” he declared. McGregor avoided making excuses and recognized his rival's superiority. “I am humble in victory and defeat. Nate accepted the fight at the last minute and was efficient. I did not go. I took a risk, I learned, but it didn't work out. I will accept defeat like a man, like a champion, and come back,” he said.
