Known for his controversial statements, Chael Sonnen resurfaced this weekend. After confirming his rematch against Anderson Silva, the American stated that he will not give up the belt to the Brazilian in this new fight.
“Last time I defeated the myth, this time I'm going to beat the man... The only thing that will be different is that I'm leaving there with the belt”, said Sonnen, in an interview with American ESPN
“In the last fight I was a minute away from taking the belt from him. If I had won (the first fight), I should have had to fight him again. So nothing in my career has changed. I was the best fighter before the fight, I'm the best fighter after,” said Chael, stating that the important thing is to just be the best.
“I’m not here to be number two, I want to be number one or nothing else”, he concluded.
The official date of the expected rematch between Anderson Silva e Chael Sonnen has not yet been confirmed, but there is speculation that the fight could take place at UFC-125, scheduled for January 1, in Las Vegas.
