Last month, the world of MMA saw one of the longest unbeaten periods in the sport come to an end. In just 13 seconds, Conor McGregor knocked out José Aldo and stopped the Brazilian's undefeated streak that had lasted more than ten years.
Now a former featherweight champion, Aldo says that the defeat in itself was not the hardest part of the process, but rather the fact that it happened precisely in the face of his great disaffection in the category. “I always said, everyone knows me every day at the gym, my friends knew, that I always said that one day I would lose and I would accept defeat. But not for this guy, because of the proportion he took. It hurt more because of that, I could lose to the Frankie Edgar, for Chad [Mendes], when I had very tough fights, or any other athlete, but on that side I was a little disappointed with myself, because at that time I couldn't lose”, said Aldo, in a press conference reproduced on the channel's website "Combat".
The Brazilian, however, promises that he will meet McGregor in the Octagon again and get payback. “You can be sure that at some point the world will turn. One day he will stop in front of me and I will go over him,” he added.
