This Wednesday (20), at the official press conference to promote the most important fights of UFC 197, once again Conor McGregor was the big attraction. The Irishman was late, fired provocations at his next opponent, Rafael dos Anjos, and promised to “parade with the Brazilian’s head” in Rio de Janeiro after the fight.

The press conference, held in Las Vegas (USA), started 30 minutes late, as McGregor was not present. “I don’t carry watches all the time,” said the Irishman. The featherweight champion was dressed in an extravagant shirt, open to the chest, in a look that he defined as “just like El Chapo in his prime”, referring to the recently captured drug trafficker.

Right from the start, McGregor explained why he chose Dos Anjos as his next opponent. “I chose this fight because I came to the UFC as a two-division champion in Europe, and I wanted to repeat that here. The man over there has the title, that's all. He has nothing more to offer me”, he shot, drawing applause from the fans present.

Then, the Irishman once again classified Dos Anjos as a “traitor of Brazil”, as Rafael does not live or train in his home country. “Aldo never left Brazil, he never learned the language of the United States. That's why they love him so much. Rafael would never receive a hero's welcome in Brazil, because nobody likes him there. You need to book a hotel when you go to Brazil, because there aren't even any houses there. So I'm going to rip your head off and parade it in Rio. It's going to be a national holiday. He doesn’t represent Brazil as he should,” he provoked.

Furthermore, McGregor returned to making his famous predictions: “I'm going to finish Rafael in a minute. Rafael is a more sloppy, stuck and slow version of Aldo”, he compared.

After the press conference, the two athletes stared at each other, looking at each other seriously and with their faces close. The Irishman threatened to headbutt the Brazilian, who didn't move due to the false blow. Afterwards, both posed for photos, and McGregor stretched out his hand to shake the Brazilian, but it was not reciprocated.

Rafael dos Anjos e Conor McGregor will take part in the main fight of UFC 197, on March 5th, in Las Vegas (USA). The Irishman, owner of the 66 kg belt, will also try to win the 70 kg title and become the first to hold two belts simultaneously in Ultimate.
