Dominick Cruz e Urijah faber It was the biggest rivalry in the early days of the UFC bantamweight category, and dates back to the days of the now-defunct WEC. That's why, when Cruz regained the under-61,2 kg division title last Sunday (17) with a victory over TJ Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 81, Faber wasted no time and launched a public challenge to his great rival.

Upon learning of Faber's challenge, however, Cruz simply dismissed plans for a trilogy against the leader of the Team Alpha Male. “I don’t even want to talk about this guy. Do we continue to talk about him? How many title fights has he had?” said the bantamweight champion.

In their first encounter, still in the WEC, Faber submitted his rival with a guillotine choke in the first round. In the rematch, held in Ultimate, it was Cruz's turn to give back and prevail in a unanimous decision from the judges.
