In just over a week, Conor McGregor will have the biggest fight of his career, at UFC 194, when he faces José Aldo for the definitive title in the featherweight category. However, the Irishman is not just focused on dethroning the Brazilian, the dominant weight champion: he is already thinking about the fight he wants to do next, which involves another UFC belt.

In yet another prophetic statement, McGregor stated that he will win the featherweight belt and then compete for the title in the top category, the lightweights. “I feel like it's already been decided: I'm going to knock out José and knock out whoever has the lightweight belt. And, in two fights, I will be champion in two categories”, guaranteed the fighter, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

The Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos, current UFC lightweight champion, will make his first title defense, against Donald Cerrone, a week after Aldo x McGregor. According to the Irishman, the fight has a better chance of getting off the ground if the North American wins the 70 kg weight title.

“They told me that if Cerrone wins, they want to do this fight at lightweight. They want us to fight for the lightweight belt, because it wouldn't be as great if it was with Dos Anjos. But the fight [between Cerrone and Dos Anjos] will decide what will happen. If it's a war, a great fight, Dos Anjos' popularity could rise. I'm sure he will challenge me”, added the controversial athlete.

Only two fighters have won linear belts in two different categories in the UFC: Randy Couture, in the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions, and B.J. Penn, at welterweight and light. However, none of them held both belts at the same time.

The first step towards realizing McGregor's prophecy will be on December 12th, in Las Vegas (USA), when he faces Aldo. On the 19th, in Orlando, also in the United States, Dos Anjos will face Cerrone at UFC on FOX 17.
