The struggles between Anderson Silva e Chael Sonnen are a landmark of trash talking (exchanges of barbs and public insults for promotional purposes) within the UFC. For this reason, the former champion Georges St Pierre didn't think twice and compared the duel between José Aldo e Conor McGregor, to the confrontation that twice defined the champion of the middleweight division. In an interview with Sonnen's own podcast, the Canadian said that, just as the loudmouth had done with Silva in the past, McGregor seems to have managed to get into Aldo's head.

“I think if I can make a comparison between you (Sonnen) and Anderson Silva, I don't know if I'm right, but it seems like maybe McGregor got into Aldo's head a little. I don't know if he can beat him, I guess we'll find out soon. Aldo is a very intelligent guy, but McGregor and the way he abuses his trash talking, there is a clear purpose for this”, declared GSP, in an interview with “You're Welcome”, a program led by the former fighter.
St. Pierre also compared the “aura of invincibility” of the two Brazilians and said that McGregor’s strategy is the same as what Sonnen tried to do years ago. “Most guys who fight the José Aldo, they are already intimidated. Aldo has that invincible aura, a bit like Anderson Silva had at the time you fought him. I think McGregor, mentally, is trying to break this aura of invincibility, but we'll see. You need to break him physically, not mentally. It's going to be a very interesting fight. A really cool clash of styles”, he guaranteed.
After years of provocations and exchange of barbs, José Aldo e Conor McGregor They finally settle their scores in the Octagon on December 12th. On that date, the rivals meet in the main fight of UFC 194, scheduled for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (USA), in a duel valid for the unification of the interim and linear featherweight belts.
