Dana White praises Thominhas' performance at UFC 189: 'He went through a real test and passed'

Thomas almeida left with his reputation on the rise after UFC 189. At last Saturday's event (11), in Las Vegas, in the United States, the young Brazilian fighter recovered after a troubled start against Brad pickett and scored a beautiful knockout over the English veteran, thus maintaining his undefeated record in professional MMA.

Thominhas, as he is known, reached his 19th victory, his third in the UFC. At 23 years old, the athlete from the Chute Boxe São Paulo academy is emerging as one of the main promises in the bantamweight division.

UFC president, Dana White, highlighted the Brazilian's recovery power, and revealed a compliment given by Mike Tyson, boxing legend, who followed the fight closely at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

“About Almeida… I've been talking about this boy for weeks. I even mentioned to [Mike] Tyson that this kid was undefeated, with 19 wins and no losses. Then, after the fight was over, Tyson said to me: 'Do you know how good a fighter is? That's when he gets in trouble and manages to find a way to win.' This is a true test for a fighter, and Almeida passed”, commented White, at a press conference.

Previously, Almeida had defeated Yves Jabouin and Tim Gorman inside the octagon. Pickett, 36, suffered his fifth defeat in the last seven fights, the third in a row.
