This Saturday night (11), in the main fight of UFC 189, the Irishman Conor McGregor gave a definitive answer to his critics, beating the “prince” of the featherweight category Chad Mendes, won the division's interim belt and, as a bonus, confirmed the long-awaited fight against the linear champion José Aldo.

As “predicted” by himself in his interviews before the duel, the triumph came with a knockout in the second round. After resisting a lot of pressure from Mendes on the ground throughout the entire period, Conor managed to get up again and attack his rival, in order to put an end to the confrontation. With Chad against the fence, the Irishman put in a good sequence on the North American, who fell after a straight left and suffered a few more blows on the ground before seeing the central referee stop the fight.
With the victory, McGregor won the interim featherweight belt and will face the Brazilian José Aldo for the unification of titles. But if you missed the duel, check out the best moments of the fight below (video from ESPN in the United States).
