For a long time, Chael Sonnen He was the biggest character in MMA. Retired since last year, after being involved in a major doping scandal, the loudmouth is considered one of the “inspirations” of Conor McGregor, one of the most controversial athletes today, and he himself recognizes the Irishman as one of his successors. However, it seems that trust is only outside the Octagon. In a chat with fans, Chael gave his opinion on UFC 189 and assured that McGregor will not even have an even fight with the Brazilian José Aldo.

“This duel (José Aldo x Conor McGregor) it won't even be an even fight. 'And yet...'”, Sonnen replied to a fan, via the social network “Reddit”, alluding to Bruce Buffer's traditional announcement when a champion successfully defends his belt. Soon after, however, in another question, Chael made a point of highlighting his sympathy for McGregor and the enthusiastic way the featherweight promotes the sport. “Conor is really fun. I like your attitude and your love for the sport. I love (the way he follows my style of promoting fights). I can’t wait to see what he does next,” he commented.

Besides Conor McGregor, Sonnen also talked about another challenger who will face a dominant champion in the coming months: Anthony Johnson. Commenting on the “Rumble” duel against Jon Jones at UFC 187, Chael was controversial and assured that the light heavyweight title fight will not happen. “Jon Jones x Anthony Johnson will not happen. This fight will not happen, mark my words”, he said, leaving in the air the hypothesis that the fight would fall due to Johnson’s anti-doping tests.

Finally, the loudmouth also spoke about his biggest rival, Anderson Silva, who now, like him, is involved in a major doping scandal. Without mincing words, Sonnen was humorous when answering whether he believes the Brazilian used banned substances throughout his career, including in their first fight, and spoke about the possibility of returning to MMA to face him a third time. “Do I think Anderson was doped all the time by today’s standards? It is clear. More than I was? Difficultly. And no (I wouldn't face Anderson in a trilogy). It worked for me, and for him too”, he concluded.
