When the world tour to promote UFC 189 was announced, it was already known that the chances of the weather getting hot between José Aldo e Conor McGregor after weeks of daily coexistence they were high, but the truth is that the tension between the two rivals has exceeded even initial expectations. This time, during the tour in the United States, the duo decided to focus on the same topic to exchange barbs: anti-doping tests. The first to touch on the subject was McGregor, who declared that the use of illegal substances is a Brazilian culture.

“It seems to me that maybe this is Brazilian culture. Women are in it, men are in it. I don't know what you think. I really don't have anything to think about. This is in Vegas. We are in a new era. The sport is being cleaned up. Athletes who are dedicated to martial arts and dedicated to health, fitness and purity are athletes who are being rewarded now. I'm happy to be part of this new era. I appreciate that the fight is in Nevada. I am grateful that we are in a new era in sports. Thanks to the Nevada Athletic Commission, which is doing out-of-competition testing. We are not in Brazil right now”, declared McGregor, during the global tour in Los Angeles (USA).

When asked about McGregor's harsh statements, Aldo didn't leave it unsaid and assured that he was sure that his rival had always used doping. “I want him to be tested for doping every week. I know he always doped. No one makes weight like McGregor without doping. I also want myself to be tested every week. In Ireland there is no athletic commission, no rules. I'm here to prove who is clean”, said the Brazilian.

Thanks to the UFC's new anti-doping policy, announced in a mega press conference in February, the desire to José Aldo e Conor McGregor will be attended to. As protagonists of the main fight of UFC 189, which takes place on July 11th in Las Vegas (USA), and athletes involved in a title fight, Conor and Aldo will undergo random surprise tests before the event, during their preparation. In addition, both will also undergo detailed examinations on the day of the fight, as is normally the case.
