If the Irishman's prediction comes true, UFC 189 would break the absolute sales record set in 2009.

The year 2015 will be marked in the world of fights by the fact that the meeting between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally takes place. The fight, one of the most anticipated in recent boxing history, will take place on May 2, in Las Vegas (USA). However, there are those who believe that the struggle of the noble art will not be the best-selling in pay-per-view in the year. Conor McGregor predicts that its fight against José Aldo, for the UFC featherweight belt, in July, will obtain even more competitive numbers.

The Irishman, who will challenge the Brazilian champion in the main attraction of UFC 189, hopes his fight will attract as much attention as the highly anticipated boxing match. “I think we will compete with Mayweather and Pacquiao. We will see. The expectation is 3,5 million sales? Three and a half million? I don't think [the number will come true]. I’m not interested in this fight like I am in mine”, said the Irishman, in an interview with the North American website “Bleacher Report”.

UFC 189, which will also take place in Las Vegas, will feature another title fight: Rory McDonald will defy Robbie Lawler for the welterweight title. To this day, the UFC's record in pay per view sold belongs to the historic UFC 100, from 2009, which won 1,6 million packages.
