The fight between former UFC fighter Josh Neer and internet user Patrick Martin, which ended in the athlete beating his opponent, is under investigation by the Iowa Athletic Commission, the state in which the gym where the incident occurred is located.

In an interview with the North American website “TMZ Sports”, the Commission's executive director, Joe Walsh, revealed that the entity is paying attention to the case. “We are aware of the situation. We have our legal team taking a hard look at our rules. We are looking to see if we have anything in our regulations that covers this,” he stated.

Neer's trainer, Pete Peterson, denied that Patrick Martin was unconscious and assured that the internet user did not stop the attacks, even after the beating shown on the recording. “I don't know why he wasn't defending himself with his hands in a better way, but he wasn't unconscious. I was right there, and he got up and started talking a bunch of nonsense again. So we kicked him out of the gym,” he reported.

Josh Neer, 31 years old, has a professional MMA record of 36 wins, 14 losses and one draw. The “Dentist”, as he is known, had three stints in the UFC: in 2006, 2008 and, most recently, in 2012. In his last fight, Neer was defeated by Paul Bradley in October last year, at Bellator 129.
