Currently 11th in the UFC welterweight rankings, Jake ellenberger was yet another athlete to criticize the presence of banned substances in the world of MMA. Given the recent controversies on the subject, especially with regard to Anderson Silva, the American fighter said he is certain that he has faced opponents who used doping.

“I'm sure I've fought guys who took performance-enhancing drugs. I've had guys say that to me after the fight. I won't say names, but you can see who they are. Probably the biggest test is seeing their appearances, but I won't name names. It’s very common,” Ellenberger explained.
Thus, the fighter naturally welcomed the UFC's new anti-doping policy, which will carry out more rigorous tests and increase the punishment given to athletes caught. “It’s good for the sport. It's good for competition, especially when there are heavier penalties. I think fighters will think a little more before taking anything,” he commented.
At 29 years old, Ellenberger has a record of 29 wins and nine losses in MMA. In his career, the North American has faced names like Robbie Lawler, Rory McDonald, Martin Kampmann, Diego Sanchez, Jake Shields e Carlos Condit. In a negative moment, with three consecutive defeats, Ellenberger will face Josh koscheck at UFC 184, on February 28th.
